Zat has announced the Macintosh version of Spin 1.0 one month after the Windows version was announced. Spin is a web application development environment. According to Zat:
"Spin 1.0 is the first authoring tool for Internet applications that enables development of both server- and client-side applications by non-programmers. The new product leverages the simplicity of the JavaBeans architecture and a revolutionary authoring technology to make it possible for professionals such as web designers and business people to create interactive, distributed applications for E-commerce, intranets, entertainment, and education."
Zat has received a nice endorsement from Apple with this new product. Once again, according to Zat:
"'The Zat product provides the best implementation I have seen to date,' said Bill Stewart, project lead of Quicktime for Java at Apple Computer. 'Based on our knowledge of existing and emerging tools, we believe that Zat's product has the potential to become a dominant authoring tool for the Internet.'"
The current version of Spin is actually Developer Release 1.0. Zat is offering Spin DR 1.0 for US$495 with a free upgrade to the full 1.0 version when it ships. The company plans on pricing the full version of Spin 1.0 at US$1495 when it ships.
