AOL Releases Final Version Of AOL 4.0 For Mac
AOL has announced that they are finally shipping version 4.0 of their online software for the Mac. Coming out many months after its PC counterpart, AOL 4.0 includes a whole new interface and stability improvements. In a letter sent to Beta testers of the software, AOL said:

"On behalf of the entire AOL community, but ESPECIALLY on behalf of your Mac Beta Team we would like to extend our deepest and most sincere thanks to each and every one of you who have participated in this beta test.

Your commitment to the AOL Mac Community throughout this test has been astounding. Your feedback and reports of issues have been the driving force in shaping the best version of AOL yet. The bottom line is that we could not be anywhere near releasing 4.0 without the hard work of the AOL Mac Beta Community. Give yourselves a pat on the back for a job well done!

We will be releasing a Frequently Asked Questions sheet in the next day or two that should hopefully address most of your questions about how the release of MAC AOL 4.0 affects you as a beta tester and the Mac Beta program in general."

This release brings the Mac version current with the PC version.

The Mac Observer Spin: AOL has not been known as a very Mac friendly company for much of the last 24 months. With Mac sales growing like Pinochio's nose, it is possible that AOL may once gain remember their roots as a Mac online service. In any event, there are many AOL users who will be glad that they have access to some of the newest features found on AOL.
