Panic Changes Transit To Transmit, Ships Version 1.2
Panic has announced the latest version of its FTP client Transit 1.2 and changed the name of the product to Transmit 1.2. Transmit is an FTP client introduced late last year that offers resumable downloads, a fantastic Mac interface, and great transfer speeds. The new version includes several feature enhancements. According to Panic:

"Transmit is now Themes-savvy (with proportional scrollbars and a nice new icon from Dave at the IconFactory!), we have a neat new Clone Window feature, the graphic preview shows you dimensions, synchronizations now give you a handy report, we play nice with more server types, we're more stable, and we threw in extensive balloon help just for the heck of it."

A full list of bug fixes can be viewed at the company's web site.

The company changed the name of the product because of an existing product in the PC world had a product with Transit in the name. This company asked Panic to change the name and so they added the "m" to make it Transmit.

The company is holding a contest for people who have bought the product or buy it today. 5 winners will be chosen randomly and receive a "super-swanky" t-shirt. According to Panic:

"Simply buy your copy of Transit today, 1/20/99 (between 12:00am to 11:59pm PST, for our
international friends) We'll take all the purchasers and pull 5 random names out of a virtual hat to determine the winners! If you've already purchased a copy of Transit (we would never exclude you!) or are unable to, just send me an E-Mail with the subject "CONTEST" to be entered in the drawing."

Transmit 1.2 is a free upgrade to registered owners. The full version is priced at US$24.95. A functional demo is available at Panic's web site.
