Black & Bleu Error Code Analyser Gets Maintenance Update
Bleu Rose Ltd. updated Black & Bleu™, their application that explains Apple Error Codes, to version 1.1.1. According to Bleu Rose:

Black and Bleu(tm) is an application that explains the cause of all of the common and many of the unusual Macintosh OS error codes. In addition, suggestions are offered for what you can do about the error. Black & Bleu(tm) contains about 3000 error codes. This is the most comprehensive list of errors currently available anywhere.

A free error analysis by one of our experienced developers is available for errors that don't have a detailed explanation. This service is available to anyone, at no charge, even if you haven't purchased Black & Bleu(tm).

Explanations give users detailed information in 2 categories:

  • a Non-technical User orientation
  • a Programmer orientation

The Non-technical User explanation is presented in a way that someone without a programming background can understand. The Programmer explanation is written in VERY technical terms that usually includes source code that demonstrates the error. To fully understand the Programmer explanation, the user should be familiar with Macintosh programming (in C or C++).

Users who upgrade from v1.0 or v1.0.1 will enjoy the following benefits:

  • Enhancement of all "User Oriented" detailed explanations with additional information.
  • Addition of a way to distinguish between error codes that use the same number.
  • Addition of the name of the system component that is associated with the error (such as QuickTime).
  • Addition of a way to list only those errors that are associated with a specific system component.
  • Over 400 new error codes.
  • Many more detailed explanations.

System Requirements Mac OS 7.0 or later, any Mac or clone 1.7 MB of disk space, 800 kB of RAM

A fully functioning, time-limited demo of Black & Bleu is downloadable from Blue Rose.

Registration is US$34.00 for the electronic version, and US$46.00 for the CD-ROM version, which includes shipping and applicable taxes. Special upgrade pricing is available for current customers who have v1.0 or v1.0.1. v1.1.1 is available at no charge for customers who purchased v1.1.

Available Free of charge to everyone is "Request an Error Analysis" -- an application that aids the user in taking advantage of our free Macintosh error analysis service. This service is available to anyone, at no charge, even if you haven't purchased Black & Bleu(tm).
