Power On Software Announces Security Deal With Kinko's
The good people at Power On Software have announced they have been selected by Kinko's to provide computer security products. The deal covers both Kinko's PCs and decreasing number of Macs. According to Power On:

Power On Software, Inc. announced today that it has signed a major contract with Kinko's, Inc., to provide computer security software to Kinko's, the leading global retail provider of document copying and business services. Kinko's has site licensed On Guard®, the industry's number one cross platform security access package for all its North American locations. Installation of On Guard will begin immediately.

In announcing the agreement, Power On's Vice President of Business Development, Robert Leeds, noted that, "This agreement offers a unique opportunity to showcase the versatility of On Guard's security capabilities. With the release of the Windows version earlier this year, Power On is now the number one vendor in the category and this agreement serves to confirm our position. We could not be more delighted that Kinko's has chosen On Guard to enhance the user experience while affording each location the peace of mind in knowing that its computers are secure and will function properly."

On Guard allows a computer to be configured so that multiple users may access the machine while preventing damage to the operating system, whether intentional or accidental. It also protects against file deletion, overwriting of essential files, and unauthorized access to any file or folder on the computer. It further guards against efforts to boot from other devices such as floppies, external hard drives or other mass storage devices. The appearance and functionality can be configured for each individual user so that On Guard's presence is completely transparent.

Power On has extensive experience in security software. On Guard has over 1 million users, and Power On recently extended its dominance in the security arena by acquiring Symantec Corporation's Norton DiskLock®. By adding DiskLock to our offerings, we are able to provide an unequalled set of security options," said John Wallace, President of Power On Software.

The Mac Observer Spin: This is a major deal for Power On and shows their continued growth as a software firm. Kinko's, the former Mac bastion, but increasingly heading towards a Windows's world, is an excellent platform for Power On to showcase their security products. A big congrats to Power On!
