| Apple jumped back up after two days of losses as investors' anticipation of Apple's 3rd Quarter results grew. Apple is set to announce those results at 3:30 CDT.
Apple closed at 55 15/16, a gain of 2 1/4 or 4.19%. Volume was heavy with 5,412,000 shares trading hands.
Apple's PC competitor's had mixed results with IBM and Hewlett-Packard closing down. Dell, Gateway 2000, and Compaq all closed higher.
The Dow closed at 11148.10, a loss of 26.92. The Nasdaq closed at 2817.88, a gain of 39.65.
