Gathering Of Developers Demoing Three New Games At MacWorld!
The good people at Gathering of Developers will be demoing three new Mac games at MacWorld! The company will be showing Railroad Tycoon II: The Second Century, FLY!, and Nocturne, all topnotch games. Their press release also gives a nod to Apple's efforts at making the Mac a great gaming platform. According to Gathering of Developers:

Gathering of Developers, a developer-driven computer and video game publishing company, will be showcasing three titles at the upcoming MACWORLD Expo/New York. The company will demo Railroad Tycoon II - The Second Century, the expansion pack to the critically acclaimed strategy simulation game Railroad Tycoon II, that put gamers at the head of a railroad empire, and FLY!, a realistic general aviation simulation that will be shipping simultaneously for the PC and Mac on July 26th. Game footage of Nocturne, a 3D horror action adventure game will also be shown. Gathering of Developers will be located at booth #1963 in the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center from July 21-23, 1999.

"We are impressed with Apple's dedication towards enhancing the Macintosh in order to increase the range of titles for the Mac gamer," said Mike Wilson, CEO of The Gathering. "Gathering of Developers' first three titles have all gone to the Mac and we plan to continue this trend with future titles."

Railroad Tycoon II & Railroad Tycoon II - The Second Century Developed by PopTop Software, Railroad Tycoon II puts players in control of more than 34 cargo and 51 train engines from around the world. Players can span the ages from 1804 to beyond 2000 while establishing transportation empires and playing the stock market to outmaneuver fellow robber barons. Railroad Tycoon II: The Second Century, the expansion pack to Railroad Tycoon II, focuses on the post-industrial years of 1939 through 2030. The title features a new campaign containing 18 scenarios split into three chapters. The scenarios cover: World War II (1939-1950), The Modern Era (1950-2005) and The Future (2005-2030). Gamers encounter world catastrophes such as the Cold War and global warming, and must solve modern problems such as the increasing demand for mass transportation in major cities. The Philadelphia Inquirer hails Railroad Tycoon II as "the non-combat strategy game of the year" and Billboard Magazine calls it a "wonderfully detailed economic simulation." The games support multiplayer play over LANs, modems and the Internet. The Mac version of Railroad Tycoon II was released in April 1999 to retail stores and has been called "a gem for Mac gaming this year" by Macreactor.com. Railroad Tycoon II - The Second Century Mac will be available exclusively on the Gathering of Developers website, http://www.godgames.com/store, on July 26th.

FLY! Letting pilots soar around the world, Terminal Reality's FLY! features interactive air traffic control (ATC) with full voice support and an ultra-realistic cockpit with fully functional knobs, switches and levers. With over 9500 airports to land in or depart from, pilots can choose from five different planes to cruise the friendly skies. The global positioning system (GPS) makes navigation a cinch and the true satellite imagery provides breathtaking views of Earth from the sky above. Computer Gaming World said, " FLY! is set to advance the civilian flight sim genre by two generations." FLY! will land in stores nationwide on July 26th.

Nocturne Developed by Terminal Reality, Nocturne, a 3D action adventure game, places players in the realm of classic 1930's pulp action adventure and uses advanced technology to create a world of dark brooding shadows, suspense and terror. Players become a member of a team dedicated to cleansing the earth of the most vile of creatures, and venture through cinematic landscapes ranging from a small western town to the deepest bowels of hell. Gamers are drawn into a world of utmost realism surrounded by dense, moving fog and the gleaming red eyes of the darkest monsters of myth and legend including vampires and werewolves. Nocturne will be available for the PC in October 1999.

You can find out more about Gathering of Developers and these games at the company's web sites.

The Mac Observer Spin: It is not clear from the company's press release if Nocturne is coming to the Mac, but Mac gaming sites have been speculating for weeks that it will. Our guess is that if the company is planning on showing the title at MacWorld that they must at least be thinking about making it a Mac release.
