Bare Bones Releases Update To Mailsmith
The good people at Bare Bones Software have released an update to Mailsmith, bringing the e-mail client to version 1.1.4. Despite the nominal version number change, this update includes a number of improvements. According to Bare Bones:

Bare Bones Software today announced the release and immediate availability of Mailsmith 1.1.4, the company's powerful Internet e-mail client. This new version of Mailsmith brings significant enhancements to the message composition and viewing environments, further extends its scriptability, and addresses an assortment of customer-reported problems. An update is available free of charge to all Mailsmith customers.

Among its interface refinements, Mailsmith 1.1.4 brings an updated message composition pane, which provides immediate selection for sending accounts, as well as simplified correction of entered addresses, and direct display of X-Face header information.

The message reading environment benefits from a number of changes, including resizable column widths in mail message lists, and the option to display unread messages in boldface.

Mailsmith 1.1.4 now gives users the ability to customize keyboard equivalents for commands in Mailsmith's menu bar via the use of a new "Set Menu Keys" command. Most properties of e-mail accounts may now be accessed by OSA scripts, providing greater automation, and Mailsmith now supports Open Transport and direct PPP connection management to make the most of users' Internet connectivity.

Along with these major enhancements come many other features and changes to further improve the usability, performance, and reliability of the application.

Mailsmith 1.1.4 is free to registered owners while the full version is priced at US$79. Bare Bones has provided a detailed list of changes in the new version. The update can be downloaded directly from the company's web site.
