Mac Security Update: Internet Config Encryption Uncovered
The good people at SecureMac.com have informed us that the encryption method used by Internet Config to store passwords has been broken. This will probably result in applications being developed to try and grab those passwords. According to SecureMac.com

The encryption scheme was discovered for Internet Config. Watch out and get advised! There will be programs surfacing to crack the password that are simpler to use than the apple script located with the advisory.

SecureMac has a detailed description on how the system was cracked, an example AppleScript for actually breaking it, and solutions for avoiding it. The solutions for avoiding it are at the end of the article we are linking to.
