Apple continues to benefit from a statement issued by Richard Gardner of Salomon Smith Barney concerning the P1. Mr. Gardner said that the P1 was likely still on track for an introduction at MacWorld this July. Apple closed higher again today.
Apple closed at 46 5/16, a gain of 15/16 or 2.07%. Volume continues to be moderate with 3,064,900 shares trading hands.
Apple's PC competitors mostly higher with IBM, Dell, Hewlett-Packard, and Compaq all closing up. Gateway closed down.
The Dow and the Nasdaq both showed good results with the Dow closing at 10970.80, up 155.45 and the Nasdaq closed at 2685.65, a gain of 43.54.
