Best Buy Expecting Candy Colored iMacs Within 10 Days
[Eduitor's Note: We apologize, but we had this story pointed to the wrong URL originally. We are reposting this story today for those Observers who missed it.]

Visiting a Best Buy in Austin, Tx. this weekend we found no iMacs on display. A sales person informed us that they were awaiting shipment of the new 266 MHz candy colored iMacs. The new iMacs will be carried in all 5 colors by Best Buy and they will be carried on an endcap though it is not clear if all 5 colors will be on an endcap or even if all 5 colors will be on display.

The shipment is expected within the next 10 day though the sales person made it clear that they have been expected for some time (meaning that he wouldn't be surprised if it took longer).

The Mac Observer Spin: Of major interest was the fact that the Best Buy employee was extremely friendly to us and very informative. In addition, this employee was not a Mac user. We were not sure if this was simply the sign of an excellent employee, excellent management, or a specific shift in Best Buy's effort to provide a better whooping experience for Mac customers. Whatever the case, it was absolutely fantastic to be treated so well in a Best Buy!

One more thing of importance in this story. If all 5 colors go on display at Best Buy, this will represent a 500% increase of shelf space for our favorite fruity colored Macs. This seems somewhat unlikely, but then again it is possible that Best Buy has figured out a way to squeeze them all in an endcap (say 1 turned on and 2 above and below that are not turned and don't have keyboards). If any Observers have any insight on this, please write us and fill us in!
