Don't Panic! Transmit 1.5 Released
The good people at Panic Software have released the latest version of their popular FTP tool, Transmit. Transmit started life out as Transit, but Panic changed the name in the face of a lawsuit from a PC oriented company with a trademark on the name. The new version of Transmit earns a 1.5 moniker and includes new features and bug fixes alike. According to Panic:

You'll notice mostly bug fixes; as I mentioned above, we spent a great deal of time putting Transmit through the wringer. Our testers have told us that Transmit 1.5 is the most stable ever.

Other than the improved stability, we've added:

  • Support for authenticating proxies: If your FTP proxy requires you to log in, you can now use it with Transmit! Refer to the release notes for full instructions on how to set this up.
  • You can now send raw FTP commands from Transmit, in case there is a server-specific feature you need to use. Some of you can use this as a temporary means for S/KEY functionality.
  • Due to customer demand, the ability to set the default "Your Stuff" folder in Transmit independently from Internet prefs has returned, in a much improved form.

Panic is also releasing Transmit 1.5 in seven different languages including: English, Japanese, French, German, Swedish, Spanish, and Italian.

The update is free to registered owners and a full version is priced at US$24.95 and can be downloaded from the Panic web site.
