Fantom Adds DVD-RAM Drive For Blue & White G3s.
Fantom Drives have introduced a new DVD-RAM drive for Apple's Blue & White G3s. The drives can replace existing CD-ROM drives offering 5.2 GBs of removable storage as well as CD-ROM compatibility.

For users of Apple's new "Blue & White" G3 Mini-Tower, the new Fantom Drives internal ATA DVD-ROM drive is an economical solution for users who wish to join the exciting world of DVD. The perfect replacement for the Macintosh's built-in IDE or ATAPI CD-ROM drive, the Fantom Drives DVD-ROM Drive provides access to the rapidly expanding world of DVD-ROM multimedia titles. Additionally, transparent compatibility with all CD-ROM titles, including bootable software CD-ROMs (such as Apple Software Installation CDs and hard disk repair CDs), preserves investments in the wealth of CD-ROM titles published over the last decade. For owners of older Macintosh computers, Fantom Drives DVD-ROM drives are also available as either internal or external SCSI devices.

Far surpassing the capacity and delicate nature of traditional removable magnetic storage media, the Fantom Drives DVD-RAM drive combines the durability of optical storage with the flexibility of high-capacity removable storage. As simple to use as a floppy disk but with nearly 4,000 times the storage capacity, the DVD-RAM standard is quickly becoming the medium of choice for backup, collaboration, and supplementary storage. In addition to reading and writing to both Type I and II 5.2GB DVD-RAM discs, the Fantom Drives DVD-RAM drive can also read conventional CD-ROM, DVD-ROM, and DVD-Video discs.

More information can be found at the company's web site.
