Sonnet Lowers Prices On NuBus G3 Upgrade Cards
Those with first generation PowerMacs who may still be sitting on the fence on whether or not to upgrade to a G3 should wait no longer. Sonnet Technologies has announced a major price cut on their Crescendo line of G3 upgrades for these machines.

Sonnet Technologies sets new price/performance standards for G3 processor upgrades with lower prices on its CrescendoTM G3 product lines for the NuBus Power Macs, Power Mac 5500, 6500 and the 20th Anniversary Mac.

Crescendo G3 for NuBus Power Macs

New prices are as follows:

  • Crescendo G3 250/512K $299.95
  • Crescendo G3 266/1M $399.95
  • Crescendo G3 300/512K $399.95
  • Crescendo G3 300/1M $499.95

This card is compatible with the following Macintosh models:

  • Power Mac 6100 AV, 6100, 7100, 8100
  • Performa 611X
  • Workgroup Server 6150, 8150, 9150
  • Radius 81/110 - Power Computing Power 100, Power 120

Crescendo G3/L2 for PowerMac 5500, 6500, and 20th Anniversary Macs

New price is on the:

  • Crescendo G3/L2 400/1M $699.95

The Crescendo G3/L2 400/1M provides 400 MHz performance for the Power Mac 5500, 6500 and 20th Anniversary Mac.

The Mac Observer Spin: Prices are certainly falling across the board on G3 upgrades. This is due to a number of reasons including Apple's new speedy Blue & Whites, lower prices from IBM and Motorola (due to lower productions costs), and of course the fierce competition from Sonnet, MacTell, PowerLogix, NewerTechnology, and XLR8.

For those who want a G3 but don't have enough money for a Blue & White, get an upgrade card.
