DNS Epert Gets An Update
Men & Mice have released an update to DNS Expert. DNS Expert helps test and maintain DNS networks. The new version, 1.5, includes new features and other enhancements. According to Men & Mice:

DNS Expert is an easy to use application that performs in-depth analysis of DNS Zone data and reports the results in a clear, easy-to-understand graphical format, saving huge amounts of time when troubleshooting and maintaining a healthy DNS System. Whether being used to test, maintain or troubleshoot an existing DNS setup or verify a new DNS setup, DNS Expert's sleek interface and advanced graphical charting provides in-depth information that's very intuitive and easy-to-understand.

Men & Mice today shipped its new DNS Expert version 1.5 update, now with integrated Ping, Traceroute and DNS Query capabilities, plus an enhanced user interface and new, advanced charting for easy to understand reports.

Now for the first time, administrators can perform Ping, Traceroute and DNS Query functions directly from within DNS Expert, making it easier than ever to immediately fix problems uncovered by DNS Expert's core analysis functionality. DNS Expert 1.5's new advanced charting makes for an even more intuitive, streamlined DNS analysis and problem solving experience.

Fix It Faster
Now, with the newly integrated Ping, Traceroute and DNS Query functions, users can resolve their DNS problems directly from within the DNS Expert Analyzer toolset, making it easier than ever to immediately troubleshoot and resolve the exposed problems in real time. Included are the most commonly used tools for troubleshooting: Ping, Traceroute, and DNS Query.

  • The Ping statistics can be viewed graphically, with a histogram and advanced logging information.
  • Traceroute executes a user-defined number of traceroutes, averages those traceroutes and presents the data as a scatterplot graphic with high, low and average values.
  • Beyond simple DNS Query, the new DNS Query function can return all of the information pertinent to the host, including A Records, NS Records, MX Records, CNAME, SOA, HINFO, PTR Record and Zone Transfers.

Currently available on the Mac OS, Windows 95, Windows 98, and Windows NT, DNS Expert analyzes any DNS system on any platform, or combination of platforms.

The update is free to registered users of DNS Expert. The full version is priced at US$99 for the standard version and US$295 for a Professional version.
