Utility For Reading Information From Your Monitor Updated
Griffin Technology has released an update to Simple DDC, their tool for reading information from your monitor. The new version includes new features. According to Griffin Technology:

Griffin Technology posted version 1.2 of their Simple DDC software. Simple DDC is free application that allows users to read Plug and Play information contained in recent Mac and PC displays. It provides a significant amount of information about a display including supported resolutions, model, manufacturer, manufacture date, scanning frequencies, addressable pixels, maximum horizontal and vertical image size, energy saving capabilities, color and gamma characteristics, sync input, white point, and more.

This information would be of interest to many users and is invaluable for users in getting correct color calibration information for use in applications such as Photoshop. Simple DDC is compatible with all recent Apple and PC displays. It is also compatible with PCI based Macs, iMacs, and the new B&W G3 models. It requires System 7.6.1 or greater.

Compatibility

  • Compatible with all PCI Macs including iMacs and B&W G3s
  • Compatible with most PC displays manufactured in the last 3-4 years
  • Compatible with all AppleVision Displays and Studio Displays

Simple DDC is free and can be downloaded free from the company's web site.

The Mac Observer Spin: In case it isn't clear from the company's press release, the app works very simply. Launch it and it will read all kinds of data from the monitor plugged in to your system.
