Lucas Learning Releases Another New Mac Star Wars Title
Lucas LEarning has released another Mac entertainment title from the Star Wars franchise. the new game is called The Gungan Frontier and sets the player as a Gungan (Jar Jar being the annoying Gungan in Episode One: The Phantom Menace) whose mission is to develop a new colony. Featuring Resource Management as a central theme, the player must develop the right balance in their colony for it to succeed. According to Lucas Learning:

Lucas Learning today announced the release of The Gungan Frontier(TM), the first-ever Star Wars simulation on CD-ROM.

As heroes of the Battle of Naboo, players are called before the Gungan High Council to handle a critical mission. Their city is threatened by overpopulation, and players must establish a new colony on a nearby moon. The Gungans need to create a new world filled with fantastic Star Wars creatures and plants from across the galaxy.

Players discover how these alien animals and plants interact and how they depend on each other to live. Only when an ecologically sound environment has been built can a new Gungan city truly thrive.

Audiences in droves are being introduced to Jar Jar Binks, a Gungan in the new Star Wars Episode I and now game players can help Jar Jar create a thriving new city in which the Gungans can live. To do this, players create a stable ecosystem where the Gungans harvest plants and collect animals that they'll use for food, construction, and maintenance.

While attempting to turn unpopulated land into a viable swamp and undersea city for the Gungans, players learn about the interdependence of organisms and environment, population and ecosystem dynamics, regulation and behavior of organisms, food webs, life cycles, and symbiosis.

The hybrid CD-ROM features over 80 fantastic Star Wars creatures and plants and includes "create a critter" mode, which allows users to design millions of animals and plants, each with their own unique attributes, and release them into the game.
