New Director Xtra Allows Interactive DVD Creation

Sonic Solutions has announced DVDit!, a Director Xtra that allows Director creations to become DVD interactive presentations. Using DVDit! for Director, any Director user can create interactive applications that can be seamlessly converted into DVD-Video content for playback on set-top DVD-Video players or DVD-enabled PCs. Building on the technology pioneered with Sonic DVDit!, DVDit! for Director seamlessly integrates with Macromedia Director and is accessed from within the Director application. Using standard Director tools, users create DVD-Video menus on their stage, layer graphical elements and create buttons. Each button on the Director stage can be linked to a full-screen, full-motion MPEG-2 video clip with audio. Once the user is satisfied with the interactivity of the Director project, DVDit! for Director converts it to a standard DVD Volume for playback on PCs or set-top DVD players. Sonic Solutions has set up a special web site for DVDit! with more information on the product. The product can also be purchased from the web site. DVDit! is expected to be available in August of this year. The product will retail for US$499. DVDit!
