Regarding the guy's commments regarding his iMac G5 performance, I think one should ask/find out what his exact scenarios are (what steps is he taking) and how long it's taking him. It would help to figure out where the bottleneck is (disk, memory bus, video hardware, etc.)

Also, he should go to System Prefs > Energy Saver > Options and turn up Performance to Highest to see if that helps.

I'd also have him go to the Unix prompt and try running top then look at the # of pageouts per second as mentioned at http://www.thexlab.com/faqs/lackofram.html. If his machine is paging all the time, then he doesn't have enough RAM for what he's running and doing w/his apps.
