This podcast is recorded on a Mac using Audio Hijack Pro. As for equipment, John is using a Behringer C-1 microphone going through a Behringer Eurorack UB1222FX-PRO mixer, monitored with Etymotic ER-6i Isolator earphones, then straight in to his Mac. On Dave's end, a Heil PR-40 microphone is used, and the whole show is mixed "live" through a Mackie Onyx 1220 FireWire-enabled mixer before being pumped back into the Mac (via FireWire, of course), and is monitored with Ultimate Ears UE-7 Ambient earphones. Each microphone is run through a channel on a Behringer Autocom Pro-XL MDX1600 compressor, a touch of reverb is added with an ART FX-1 processor, and the whole thing is then compressed in software on the Mac. The show is recorded to AIFF, and then converted and uploaded with an Automator script. Michael, aka Computernap, then goes through and enhances the show to provide you with the AAC version. You can hear more details of the setup and how it's mixed on Episode #32.
Theme Music: "The Answer", written by Jeff Steblea and Brian Ayles, as performed by Go Figure. "Made On A Mac" bumper by Mark Fleser

Hi, I think if you're going to do a podcast about Leopard, you should at least know what the major features are. Not knowing about the iChat upgrades is unbelievable, they were announced over a year ago (screen sharing).
Thanks for the note, Guest -- I haven't (yet) listened back, but I do remember acknowledging that iChat had a bunch of new features, and even listed screen sharing as one of them. As indicated, though, this wasn't intended to be a show listing all the new features (there's plenty of that happening already). This was about installation guidance, some less-popularized features, tips for right now, and laying out the path for what's to come on MGG. Regarding iChat, for example, we mentioned it only as part of an agenda for a future show when we've truly had the ability to dig in and -- most importantly -- help when questions from you folks come in about it.

Hi Dave, I just finished listening to the Leopard podcast (great show, by the way), and wanted your impressions on how Leopard is running on your iMac G5. I'm debating on upgrading at this point and wanted your opinion since it seems you upgraded your G5 machine. I have an iMac G5 (with isight), with 2.5 gigs of ram. Runs well? Fast? Slow? Any insight would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Hey there -- actually, it runs *great* on my iMac G5. I've got 1.5GB of RAM, and it screams. Really snappy, no delays. I'm quite happy with the upgrade there, and it's installing (Archive and Install with Migration, thank you) on my MacBook Pro as I type.
My roommate also had the blue screen of death during install. He then did a archive and install but when the system booted his account had no admin privileges. To solve the issue we logged into Root account and gave the old admin account back their privileges.
We have identical machines but my install went much smoother. The only main difference is that my roommates machines has a lot of 3rd party software installed and several OS modifications. I mostly run Apple software with no major modifications.
