Adobe/Macromedia Acquisition to Close Dec 3
Adobe/Macromedia Acquisition to Close Dec 3
by , 11:40 AM EST, December 2nd, 2005
Adobe and Macromedia expect to have all of the regulatory clearances necessary to complete Adobe's purchase of Macromedia by December 3, 2006. The acquisition of Macromedia by Adobe began last spring, and will transfer Macromedia's product line to Adobe.
The transaction will be all stock, and Macromedia share holders will receive 1.38 shares of Adobe common stock for each share of Macromedia stock they own.
Macromedia's product line includes Freehand, Dreamweaver, Flash, and several other products that web and graphic designers use daily. The future of these products is uncertain, especially since products like Freehand, which competes with Adobe Illustrator, has received little support from Macromedia in recent years.
Dreamweaver, Macromedia's web development tool, competes with Adobe GoLive in the web design market. Both applications have strong supporters, and Adobe is not yet commenting on its plans for the future of either product.
Obtaining Flash, a web standard for delivering multi-media content to web browsers, is a big feather in Adobe's cap. The company now will control the file format, and the tools to develop for it, something Macromedia historically blocked Adobe from doing.
Adobe will hold a financial analyst meeting on December 15 at 2:00 p.m. Pacific Time to discuss the combined company's outlook for fiscal 2006. It will present its strategy for moving forward in New York City on January 31, 2006.
Adobe stock is currently trading at US$34.84, up 0.96 (2.83%), and Macromedia is trading at $48.04, up 1.54 (3.31%).

Adobe was nice to me until they got the money.
I told them that if my they keep treating me like this, I will start e-mailing Adobe's competition.
Here is a copy of my complaint (ignored totally):
I bought two copies of ADOBE CS3 Production Premium.
Before I paid I made sure that even though the shipping addres is to me, the programs are for someone else.
That had to be mentioned in the packing invoice.
That was very important to me before I paid the money.
I was assured that there would be no problem.
Now the product arrived with only the shipping client information.
And there is a big problem making the simple correction.
Adobe's customer service is a JOKE! Some CS agents barely speak English,
asking annoying questions to repeat what I was saying and placing me on long holds.
Personally I can say:
I made $3,900.96 transaction with Adobe.
And now I regret it.

This confirmation information is wrong.
I tried to clear it with the customer service.
The almost hour long conversation was a complete torture.
I was asked numerous times to repeat and confirm what I was saying and I was put on hold for couple of times.
The hold times were long.
This simple request is turning to be quite complicated.
When I talked to the sales agents, the conversations were simple and to the point.
Three different agents told me that there was no problem writing different shipping and buyer's addresses.
I gave both pieces of information and paid the money.
Now, what I got is not what I requested.
The only information I see on the invoice is where it was shipped.
And all of the sudden it can not be corrected.
Is this how Adobe is dealing with customers who spend thousands of dollars buying Adobe products??
Please correct this.
This product was shipped to me, but the person who bought it is as follows:
*****
I confirmed this with the sales agent before I paid and was told that it could be done.
After being frustrated by your customer service, I filed a complaint. ID: *****.
Some one was going to call me within 24 hours. Now it's well past that and I haven't heard from anyone.
My phone: *****
_copy of your confirmation attached.***
