Apple's stock was on the rise Wednesday morning following the company's media invitation to a special music-related event scheduled for September 5. The Mac and iPod maker's stock closed on Tuesday at US$126.82, but jumped up more than $3 to climb over $130 Wednesday morning.

Although Apple is keeping quiet about what it plans to announce at next Wednesday's media event in San Francisco, most people are expecting updated iPod models. Rumors claim that the next iPod release will feature models running OS X with touch-sensitive controls similar to the iPhone's media controls.

Apple's media event will be held at 10:00AM PDT (1:00PM EDT) on Wednesday, September 5 at Moscone West in San Francisco. The Mac Observer and iPodObserver.com will be on location with live event coverage.

Apple is currently trading at $130.10, up 3.28 (2.59%).
