Apple Stock Rises Another 6% in Thursday Trading

Shares in Apple Inc. advanced more than 6% through the early afternoon trading session on Thursday, with the stock having risen more than US$15 per share since the beginning of this week. As of this writing, shares in Apple were trading at $110.84, a gain of $6.29 (+6.02%) on moderate volume of some 36.9 million shares trading hands.

The rise came as chip stocks helped push tech stocks higher. An industry trade group reported modest growth of semiconductor sales during the month of September, and the market grasped hold of this relatively good news as signs of an improving economy, and sent stocks higher, Apple's among them.

There does not appear to be any Apple-specific news behind AAPL's gains today.
