This might be fun, if enough people install there's potential for some pretty great shenanigans, or at least a fun way to pass time in line for things. At the very least it is a very attractive alternative to Facebook.

11:05 AM EDT, Aug. 29th, 2014 · Jeff Gamet · News

New photos of Apple's unannounced iPhone 6 have surfaced only days before the company is expected to unveil the new device at a special media event, and along with the space gray and gold models we're already familiar with, they also show a silver version. 9:42 AM EDT, Aug. 29th, 2014 · Jeff Gamet · News

First Re/code said Apple will unveil its wearables product line at its September 9 media event along side the iPhone 6, and now Bloomberg has sources backing up those claims, too. Even without Bloomberg's sources chiming in, it seemed like a pretty sure thing that a wearables announcement would be part of Apple's September 9 media event. Now it's just a matter of waiting to see what it is that Apple has been working on.

Apple: HealthKit Data Off Limits to Advertisers

7:39 PM EDT, Aug. 28th, 2014 · Jeff Gamet · News

Apple's HealthKit will be off limits for advertisers, which means app developers planning on supporting the health and fitness logging platform won't be able to make money by selling information about how far we walk or how much we weigh to other companies. The rule should help keep personal information that should stay private out of the wrong hands, and could help boost trust in HealthKit once iOS 8 ships in the coming weeks.

Locking down our health and fitness data so it can't be sold to advertisers is a great move on Apple's part. That'll go a long way towards helping iPhone owners feel like data that's very personal in nature won't be used to target them with inappropriate or embarrassing ads.
