.Mac HomePage Access Ends Today

Web pages built with MobileMe’s HomePage won’t be visible after November 8, bringing to an end the Web page design feature first introduced with the .Mac service. Apple dropped support for the feature about a year ago, but left HomePage viewing available so shared photos, videos and files would still accessible via Web browsers.

MobileMe inherited .Mac’s HomePage feature

Apple noted in an email reminder sent out to MobileMe subscribers in early October that content uploaded via the HomePage service will still be available to users. “Any photos, movies, or files you have published using HomePage will continue to remain on your MobileMe iDisk in the Movies, Pictures, or Public folders,” the company said.

MobileMe subscribers that use iWeb to publish content won’t be affected by the service change. An FAQ detailing the shutdown of the .Mac HomePage feature is available at the Apple Support Web site.
