AAPL Up More Than 3% on Dell/Microsoft/Linux News

· by · Apple Stock Watch

Shares in Apple Inc. rose more than 3% in early afternoon trading Monday. The stock benefitted from a broader rally in the tech sector triggered by an announcement from Dell that it would sell SUSE Linux to its corporate customers through a deal with Microsoft.

Under the deal, Microsoft will sell SUSE Linux Enterprise Server certificates to Dell under an alliance between Microsoft and Novell, the owner of the SUSE brand of Linux. Those certificates allow Dell to compete in the Linux space in the corporate space, a move Wall Street apparently appreciates.

The news sent Dell, Microsoft, Novel, Apple, and other tech stocks climbing.

As of this writing, shares in AAPL traded at US$103.89, up $3.08 (+3.06%). in moderate volume.
