AMD Subpoenas Microsoft Documents in Intel Antitrust Suit

AMD last week filed a subpoena seeking Microsoft documents that it said will assist with its antitrust suit against Intel, Ben Ames reported on Monday for Macworld UK. AMD is hoping to find information about the three companiesi marketing plans as well as anything relating to 64-bit microprocessors.

A Microsoft spokeswoman said that her company will comply with the request. Intel had no comment, while AMD told Mr. Ames that it is simply looking for the same type of documents it had already requested from other companies. However, Mr. Ames pointed out, some of those firms are resisting the requests. AMD is seeking proof that Intel illegally pressured retailers and computer makers into giving preference to it over its competition.
