Acer has talked with Sony about possibly joining the laptop battery recall, although none of its users have reported any problems. Stella Chou, a representative for the fourth-largest PC maker in the world, told IDG News: "Previously, we believed there were no problems with our batteries, but now weire in discussions with Sony, just to make sure."
So far, Dell, Apple, Lenovo, and Toshiba are part of the recall of laptops that use Sony-made batteries; Fujitsu has said it is "also likely" to join it, but hasnit revealed any details yet. Dell has recalled 4.1 million batteries, the most among those companies. Sony has said that the Dell and Apple recalls alone will cost between US$169 and $254 million.
