Amazon Posts, Pulls Ship Date for Tiger

O ur friends at MacCentral noticed an interesting tidbit at Amazon today. The retailing giant posted Tiger for pre-order, and on the Tiger page, a ship date of March 31st, 2005 was given. While Apple originally announced that Tiger would ship in the first half of 2005, no specific shipping date has so far been announced.

Since MacCentralis story was posted, the availability date was pulled by Amazon, and the only date on the page is the date the company first posted it as a product, which was October 1st, 2004. The option to pre-order the product has also been removed.

Additionally, earlier in the afternoon, one copy of Tiger was available as a "used," copy. Used items from Amazon are offered by third parties, and not by Amazon itself, so there is no telling what the item actually was. As with the ship date originally found on the page, the used copy is gone. Whether it was ordered or pulled is not known.

Appleis policy is to not comment on rumors. You can find Amazonis Tiger page at the Amazon.com Web site. You can also find more information in the MacCentral article.
