· by Kyle D\'Addario · News

Apple and HP were both identified as financial backers of the online photo processing start-up, Ophoto, according to a Yahoo! news article. Ophoto aims to allow users to use their service to upload, store, and even request hard copies of digital photographs. With the latest round of funding giving the company over US$57 million, Apple and HP hope to benefit from their ground-level involvement.

According to Yahoo!:

Emeryville, Calif.-based Ofotois services allow consumers to upload digital photographs to the companyis Web site, which provides for image storage, editing and print processing.

According to an Ofoto spokeswoman, Hewlett-Packard joined Mondayis round as a strategic investor. Ofoto has a digital-printing infrastructure based on the HP Designjet 5000 printers.

Ofoto said funds from Mondayis round will be used to continue the companyis current services and to expand into new lines, including wallet-sized prints, a product Ofoto has found to be in high-demand among its customers.

Hewlett-Packard and Apple were joined as new investors in Mondayis round by Rosewood Venture Group, which intends to help Ofotois branding and marketing efforts.
