Apple Buys FinalTouch Software Maker Silicon Color

Silicon Color recently updated its Web site to note that its technology and intellectual property, including its FinalTouch color correction software, has been purchased by Apple. MacCentral quoted the notice as saying: "Maintenance agreements held by current Silicon Color customers will be honored by Apple until they expire."

Silicon Coloris products are aimed at digital video editors who work with Macs--the companyis Web site touts their use by The Discovery Channel, as well as the creators of promos for the movie X-Men 3: The Last Stand. A MacCentral reader speculated that Apple will likely roll the technology into Final Cut Pro and could even use it in Aperture.
