Apple Hires Delicious Monster Co-Founder, Designer

Apple Computer has hired away interface designer Mike Matas, one of the developers behind the graphical interface of the media cataloging product, Delicious Library.

In an online blog posting, Mr. Matas said he would be moving from Seattle, Wash. to Cupertino, Calif. to work at Apple and "will be designing user interfaces and drawing icons for Mac OS X."

"Unfortunately this means I will be leaving Delicious Monster, the software company I founded with Wil Shipley about a year ago. Our first product Delicious Library has been a run away success and it has a great future ahead. I have created detailed designs for version 2.0 that Wil will be working off as he completes this incredible release."

Mr. Matas was the designer of Delicious Library that has won several design awards as of late, including an Apple Design Award for iBest Mac OS X User Experiencei.
