Apple announced the immediate availability of Xsan 2 on Tuesday. The new version of the enterprise-class Storage Area Network system added the ability to access multiple SAN systems from a single workstation through its new MulitSAN feature, and requires Mac OS X 10.5.
Xsan 2 is also qualified for use with third-party RAID solutions including solutions from Promise Technology. Administrators can also pre-set volume workload settings to improve file streaming, and it intelligently handles different file types.
Xsan 2 is priced at US$999 per node.
