Apple Moving Forward with Boston Store

· by · News

Appleis revised building design for its planned Boston store received conditional approval at a municipal hearing Wednesday evening. The city cleared Apple to demolish the current building at 815 Boylston Street, the future site of the new store, as long as it presents an appropriate new building design, according to The Boston Globe.

The design proposal Apple submitted featured a three-story glass front, stainless steel columns, spiral staircase, a skylight with a green roof, and a recessed entrance. Although the city liked the design, concerns were raised over the amount of light that would spill out of the glass front.

Commission member John Christiansen commented "We like the direction itis going in. Youire on a great track, keep going. Itis technologically inspired and historically inspired."

Apple will be working with a special city subcommittee to revise the building design.
