Apple Offers New 733 MHz PowerMac G4 Model For US$3099

Thanks to Observer Sam Ronson for alerting us to some very interesting changes to the Apple Store. Apple has added a couple of options to the PowerMac G4 lineup that many Mac users are going to find VERY interesting. The PowerMac G4 line now lists 6 options that include Fast, Faster, Faster Dual, Fastest, Special Offer, & Ultimate. Special Offer is the newest addition to that list, and it is a 733 MHz PowerMac G4 with a CD-RW drive instead of the SuperDrive, and is priced at US$3099. It includes a GeForce2MX video card (as opposed to the newly announced GeForce3 card), a 60 GB hard drive, and 256 MB of RAM.

This is good news indeed to many who want the power of the fastest Mac on the planet, but donit need the ability to make their own DVD-R disks. In addition, it should be less of a wait to get these new units due to constraints in the supply of SuperDrives.
