Apple Ranks 442nd on Forbes Global 2000, List Dominated by Financial Companies

Among companies in the Technology hardware & equipment category, Apple ranked 18th.

IBM, HP, Nokia, Cisco, Sony, Dell, Motorola, LM Ericsson, Matsuhita (Panasonic), Fujistu, Sharp, NEC, Toshiba, Alcatel, Lucent, EMC, and Qualcomm were the tech hardware companies that ranked higher than Apple.

The top 20 largest companies were primarily comprised of banking, insurance, and oil & gas firms.

Citigroup ranked first with profits of $17.05 billion on sales of $108.28, with a market value of $247.66 billion and assets worth $1.48 trillion. Apple, in contrast, posted profits of $510 million on sales of $9.76 billion with a market value of $36.6 billion and $9.36 worth of assets.

IBM, at 17, was the only tech company in the top 50.
