Apple Releases Security Patch for Mail, iChat, Safari, More

Apple released Security Update 2006-001, a Mac OS X security patch that addresses issues with Mail, iChat, Safari, and other Mac OS X components. Apple recommends the update for all users.

The update notes in Software Update:

Security Update 2006-001 is recommended for all users and improves the security of the following components:

  • apache_mod_php
  • automount
  • Bom
  • Directory Services
  • iChat
  • IPSec
  • LaunchServices
  • LibSystem
  • loginwindow
  • Mail
  • rsync
  • Safari
  • Syndication

Apple has also posted a Knowledge Base article for the update that goes into greater detail on each of the updated components. The update weighs in at 13.2 MB.
