Apple Reveals Design Award Winners

Apple on Tuesday night announced the winners of the 11th annual Apple Design Awards, handing out a prize package valued at US$16,000 to the winner in each category. According to Macworld magazineis Rob Griffiths, the event was attended by approximately 1,500 to 2,000 people.

The winner of Best Mac OS X Student Product was Lineform, a vector art tool. The Best Mac OS X Developer Tool was TextMate, a text editor aimed at programmers. Modo 201, a sub-division surface rendering application, scored Best Use of Mac OS X Graphics. The multi-clipboard Widget iClip Lite won Best Mac OS X Dashboard Widget.

Best Mac OS X Automator Workflow went to Build Real Estate Catalog, a set of more than 50 Automator actions that use iPhoto, FileMaker, and InDesign to build real estate catalogs. The eBay auction tool iSale won Best Mac OS X User Experience. Aspyris The Sims 2 won Best Mac OS X Game, and the molecular biology tool EnzymeX scored Best Mac OS X Scientific Computing Solution.
