Apple Scores Data Centers in Newark, Santa Clara February 26th, 2006 at 2:00 PM - News by Jeff Gamet Apple recently acquired a 107,000 square-foot data center in Newark, California for somewhere between US$45 and $50 million. According to the San Jose Business Journal, the facility was originally built for MCI WorldCom in 2001 and has never been occupied. The company also grabbed a 90,000 square-foot facility in Santa Clara, California. Apple is not stating what it intends to use the facilities for, but they are most commonly used as highly redundant data storage and processing centers. Apple also recently signed a deal for a 116,830 square-foot office center in on Ridgeview Court in Cupertino.
