Apple Store "Crunched" But Back Up And Accepting Mac OS X Orders

· by · News

Observer reports and our own observations found the Apple Store to be down at times this morning as it wilted under the huge demands of Mac users wishing to buy the newly released Mac OS X Beta. Apple has not made official comment on the situation, nor has their PR department returned our messages as of this writing, but several Observers sent us comments from staff manning the phones at The Apple Store. While not from an official Apple spokesman, one Apple Store employee told one Observer "Our Web site is crunched."

Other comments passed on to us:

Our server can handle hundreds of thousands of hits at any single time, but it canit handle what weire getting now. We started receiving orders for OS X at 3 AM in the states. We have had calls from Canada and Denmark, but we donit export from the Apple Store.

Again, the Apple Store Web site is back up and accessible as of this writing and is accepting orders for Mac OS X Beta! Thanks to the many Observers who wrote to us with their observations, with special thanks to David Schultz, Editor-in-Chief of Applelust.com.
