Apple Sues Mac Site For Publishing "Trade Secrets"
January 4th, 2005 at 2:00 PM - News by Bryan Chaffin
Apple has filed suit against Think Secret, the Mac rumor and news site, according to a report by CNet News. Apple sued the site for publishing what it calls trade secrets regarding unannounced products. ThinkSecret has recently published stories about a headless Mac and an Apple productivity suite, neither of which have been announced by Apple.
This is the third such suit Apple has filed in recent weeks. In December, Apple sued anonymous persons regarding a product under the code name of Asteroid, as well as three people the company accused of illegally distributing unreleased versions of Appleis next operating system, Tiger.
The new suit seeks to find out information on who leaked the information to ThinkSecret, as well as an injunction to keep the site from publishing additional "trade secrets."
"Apple has filed a civil complaint against the owner of ThinkSecret.com and unnamed individuals who we believe stole Appleis trade secrets," Apple said in its statement obtained by The Mac Observer. "We believe that Think Secret solicited information about unreleased Apple products from these individuals, who violated their confidentiality agreements with Apple by providing details that were later posted on the Internet."
TMO contacted Nick DePlume for comment on this story, but he declined to do so.
