Apple Trademarks Rosetta

Apple has filed an application for a trademark for Rosetta, the technology that will enable users to run PowerPC applications on the new Intel-based Macs. The technology was developed by Transitive, but itis unclear what part the company played in the final version, considering that Apple was the company that applied for the trademark.

Writing for CNET, Ina Fried reported that Apple CEO Steve Jobs confirmed in a New York Times interview that Transitive was involved in some way with Rosetta, but declined to be more specific. She also noted Apple senior vice-president Phil Schiller told CNET in June that Rosetta is Appleis technology, but he wouldnit discuss the details of the arrangement with Transitive either.
