Avid Xpress Pro 5.5 Adds HD Support

Avid released Avid Xpress Pro 5.5 on Wednesday, adding HD support to the video editing application. It supports native HDV and DVCPRO HD for acquisition, editing, and output, real-time effects and 2:3 pulldown insertion over FireWire and Avid DNxHD encoding to create effects, transitions and titles. Avid Xpress also supports the new Avid Mojo SDI interface, also announced today.

Avid Mojo SDI is a portable analog and digital SDI input and output device. It connects to your Mac via FireWire, and includes AES/EBU digital audio inputs and outputs. Avid Mojo SDI supports Avid Xpress Pro and Media Composer.

Avid Xpress Pro 5.5 is priced at US$1,695. Upgrades from versions 4 and 5 cost $49.95. Avid Mojo SDI costs $2,495.
