BBC Adds Mac Support to iPlayer

· by · News

The BBCis online iPlayer service opened its doors to the Mac on Thursday. While the beta of the streaming TV service has been extended beyond just Windows users, the ability to download shows is still missing for anyone outside of the Microsoft camp.

iPlayer lets U.K. residents stream BBC shows that have aired over the last seven days to Mac, Windows, and Linux computers. The BBC claims that download support will be added for Mac OS X and Linux some time in 2008.

The BBC plans on transitioning its iPlayer service out of beta status with an official launch on December 25.
