BIAS Peak Pro 5 Offers Many New Audio Recording, Editing Features

BIAS Inc. is now shipping Peak Pro 5, the latest version of its recording, editing, mastering and delivery software. This upgrade features a revamped Playlist function, with unlimited undo and redo, support for keyboard-triggered controls, a graphic waveform view and more.

In addition, Peak Pro 5 offers replication-ready CD burning, support for Audio Units and VST plug-ins in the Vbox graphic effects routing window, instrument playback via a dedicated keyboard window or from an external MIDI keyboard and improvements to the on-board DSP algorithms. Other changes include high-resolution tape style scrubbing with CoreAudio, a new Recover Audio File command for recovering some damaged files, a new Region Split command that speeds up the region creation process and more.

Pricing for the full version of Peak Pro 5 is US$599. Anyone who purchased the full version of Peak before April 1, 2005 can upgrade to the new edition for $179, while anyone who bought it after that date will be charged $39.

System requirements call for a G3 400MHz processor, Mac OS X v10.3.9 (v10.4 required for the CD Text capability in CD burning), 256MB RAM (512MB recommended), 330MB available hard drive space, 1024 x 640 screen resolution and QuickTime 6.0. The ImpulseVerb feature, which adds room ambiance to recordings, requires a G4 or G5 processor.
