Beta Testing Begins For Product That Can Extract 35mm Quality Photos From Digital Video

RedHawk Vision has announced a beta program for Video Pics, and they are opening the beta program to qualified members of the public. Video Pics is a software tool that is designed to extract "35mm quality" images from digital video. The tool works in conjunction with Adobe Premier and is currently Mac-only. According to RedHawk Visions:

RedHawk Vision, Inc. today announced that beta testing of its Video Pics(TM) professional software is underway. Video Pics is designed to allow video professionals working with Adobe Premiere® software to extract and produce 35mm quality photographs from digital video sources. Such photographs could potentially be used for marketing and advertising, corporate events, enterprise networks, trade booths, web sites, and interactive CDs. Video Pics availability is expected October 2000.

Video Pics permits the generation of digital files that are compatible with image editing software and can be used to produce high resolution images, 3200 x 2400 dpi, for print work. RedHawk Visionis proprietary software takes information content from multiple frames of video, reduces noise, and enhances the image color, detail and resolution of a selected frame. In addition, high quality, low resolution images for the Internet and other electronic media can be produced.

The current version of Video Pics is Apple® Macintosh® compatible. RedHawk Vision is planning future video software products to be cross-platform and to include functions for salvaging otherwise unusable video and re-purposing existing video assets. Both professional and consumer versions of Video Pics are being designed to eventually facilitate e-commerce photofinishing and direct delivery of extracted photographs to users.

According to Mark Gart, RedHawk Visionis Vice President of Marketing, "Weire now recruiting additional Video Pics beta testers via RedHawkVision.com. Individuals interested in participating in this beta test and future ones are encouraged to register as soon as possible." Mr. Gart continued, "We expect Video Pics to be priced under $700. The price will be firmed up as we get closer to product launch."
