Bytonic Releases Java Version of Quake 2

Danish company Bytonic Software has released Jake2, a Java version of id Softwareis first-person shooter Quake 2. Inside Mac Games, which reported the news on Monday, said: "The port runs at full speed on many modern machines and is compatible with Mac OS X."

Bytonic says that Jake2 features both the single- and multi-player versions of the game, along with the ability to save and load games and support for full-screen video and demo playback and recording. However, gamers need the data files from either the full retail or demo version of Quake 2.
