Canon Unveils Plethora Of New Products

L AS VEGAS, NV - Canon made a number of product announcements at CES today, including new Mini DV Camcorders, new photo and mobile printers, and a new LiDE scanner.

The Elura 80, Elura 85, and Elura 90 Mini DV Camcorders combine Canonis video and camera technology into one product. The camcorders now feature high resolution 16:9 widescreen shooting and a 1.33 megapixel CCD image sensor. The Elura 80 ($549) and Elura 85 ($599) feature 18x optical zoom lenses, while the Elura 90 ($699) features a 20x optical zoom lens. Compared to the Elura 80, the Elura 85 features a microphone terminal and Super Night Mode, while the Elura 90 adds a built-in mini video light and comes equipped with a wide attachment.

Canonis affordable new ZR models of Mini DV Camcorders consist of the ZR100, ZR200, and ZR300. The camcorders feature a lighter and more compact streamlined design and gain 16:9 widescreen shooting capability. The ZR100 ($349) and ZR200 ($399) feature 20x optical zoom lenses, while the the ZR300 ($499) has a 22x optical zoom. Additionally, the ZR200 has an SD card slot and XGA photo recording capability, while the ZR300 also sports a wide converter and Super Night Mode functionality.

The PIXMA iP90 Mobile Printer is a portable color printer that features an Bluetooth adapter for wireless printing. The printer offers a maximum color resolution of 4800x1200 dpi and can print up to 16 pages per minute in black and up to 12 pages per minute in color. Borderless 4x6 photos can be printed in about 51 seconds. The PIXMA iP90 will sell for $249.99; the Bluetooth adapter will cost another $79.95.

Canonis SELPHY CP-400 is a dedicated photo printer that can make 4x6 prints in about 81 seconds, four seconds faster than previous models. The printer can create high quality 300 dpi color photographs in three different paper sizes (2.5x3.5, 4x6, and 4x8) from a computer or via a PictBridge-capable Canon camera. The printer will sell for $149.99.

Lastly, Canonis futuristic-styled vertically-oriented LiDE 500F scanner features a slim profile and drop-in scanning via a lid that opens to create a 40 degree "V" shape. The USB 2.0 scanner features Canonis FARE Level 3 dust and scratch removal technology and packs a 2400x4800 dpi optical resolution with 48-bit color depth. The scanner will sell for $129.99.

All of Canonis new products will ship in January and are compatible with Mac OS X.
