Trans Intl updated its ClearLite Ultra Compact Portable FireWire 400 hard drives on Thursday. The drives use the OXFW911 bridge controller chip, include a FireWire 400 and USB 2.0 port, and offer data transfer rates between 20-35 MB/s, or about twice as fast as older models. Drive prices have also been reduced, and now start at US$112 for the 40GB 5400 RPM model. Models are available in capacities up to 160GB for $209 at the Trans Intl Web site.
