DEVONtechnologies has released an update for DEVONthink and DEVONagent , bringing them to versions 1.8.1 and 1.2.2 respectively. DEVONthink is a personal data management tool designed for organizing data, ranging from pictures to source codes. DEVONagent is a utility designed to be an automatic user defined search assistant. DEVONtechnologies updates the freeform database and information manager DEVONthink Personal Edition and DEVONagent, its intelligent search agent and alternative browser.
DEVONthink 1.8.1 now allows not only to completely import documents into the database, but also to only index them. This makes it possible to access even huge static data collections from within DEVONthink and use most of its unique, "intelligent" functions like "classify" or "see also". Also, itis possible to only link to external contents but still display them in DEVONthink.DEVONagent 1.2.2 provides the possibility to easily switch between different settings directly in the query window, displays error messages when loading of a web page fails and comes with the possibility to add archived pages to crawler sets. Additionally, the query field and history popup in crawler and query windows have been combined, many plug-ins and scanners have been improved and the ad and spam filters are more reliable. The RSS-to-HTML and HTML-to-text conversions are faster in version 1.2.2, and the overall performance has been improved.
